What is Peak Arts Fund?

Peak Arts Fund is an annual campaign raising funds for 18 arts organizations in the Pikes Peak region. These organizations bring a wide variety of music, theater, film, art exhibits, opera, dance, festivals, and arts education opportunities all year long to Colorado Springs and throughout El Paso County. Peak Arts Fund is managed by COPPeR, the Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region, a nonprofit organization connecting residents and visitors with arts and cultural opportunities to enrich the Pikes Peak region.

How is money from Peak Arts Fund allocated?
The 18 beneficiary organizations of Peak Arts Fund are awarded funds based on an allocation formula weighted by organizations’ operating budgets.

Why should I give?
Because the 18 organizations in Peak Arts Fund have met eligibility standards of size and service to the community, your donation to Peak Arts Fund is well spent and wisely invested. Your contribution supports programs and organizations that create community through the arts.

How much of my donation goes to the arts organizations?
100 percent of the funds raised are distributed to the 18 organizations. Generous support from our Founders Circle — Pikes Peak Community Foundation, Bee Vradenburg Foundation, Inasmuch Foundation and Kirkpatrick Family Fund — covers all the administrative costs of Peak Arts Fund.

Can I designate my contribution to a specific organization?
No. Peak Arts Fund is different than other combined fundraising campaigns you may have experienced because it is uniquely designed to strengthen many arts organizations at once. The arts are highly collaborative, and we know a vibrant community needs a diverse mix of music and theater and film and visual arts and arts opportunities for children, etc. In short: A rising tide raises all boats.

I already support one of the organizations benefiting from Peak Arts Fund. Should I contribute through this instead?
We encourage you to continue your current support to your favorite arts organizations. However, if you are able to make an additional financial contribution to Peak Arts Fund, it’s a smart way of creating community by supporting a wide variety of arts offerings.

How do organizations qualify to be part of Peak Arts Fund?
To qualify for Peak Arts Fund, organizations must be 501c3 nonprofit serving El Paso or Teller counties with a mission devoted singularly to the arts. Additionally, eligible organizations must meet minimum standards of budget size and staffing to ensure levels of responsiveness and relevance in service to the community.

Is my contribution tax-deductible?
Yes, contributions to the Peak Arts Fund are fully tax deductible.

In fact, because it’s been proven that a strong arts sector generates jobs, creates economic vitality, and attracts businesses, a donation of $500 or more is eligible for additional tax incentives through the Enterprise Zone.
